Afterwards I just wanted to lie there next to her, but I think Denise was kind of embarrassed because we’d been away from the party for so long. We got dressed as fast as possible, even though I had trouble zipping up her fancy Scarlett O’Hara dress. Then we slipped out of the bedroom. A guy and a girl who were both dressed like mice were sitting in the hallway making out, and I think they might have gone into the bedroom after us. When we walked past the den, we saw Gary and another guy dressed like a mouse watching the original Frankenstein movie. Neither of them looked very happy. The guy dressed like a mouse was wearing sunglasses on top of his head, and I heard him say to Gary, “We were supposed to be the three blind mice … .”

I kind of felt bad for that guy, and I made sure to say good night to Gary.
